But here's where it gets controversial... with the introduction of fine-grained permissions (FGPs), enterprise owners can now grant specific access to the agent control plane, revolutionizing how AI is managed within organizations.
At Universe 2025, we unveiled the public preview of the agent control plane, a governance suite empowering enterprises to audit and control Copilot features, custom agents, and MCP configurations like never before.
Enterprise owners can now delegate management of these features by creating custom roles with specific FGPs. For instance, the 'View enterprise AI controls' FGP allows the role to access all settings in the AI Controls tab, while 'Manage enterprise AI controls' grants full management capabilities.
And this is the part most people miss... the FGPs don't automatically grant access to deep links like audit logs or rulesets. Enterprise owners must explicitly add the 'Read enterprise audit logs' FGP to allow viewing of audit log events, ensuring AI managers can monitor agentic activity effectively.
By assigning these custom roles to individual members or enterprise teams, AI management can be scaled efficiently.
