LG bundles Copilot into your TV, and you can’t remove it
So you don’t want an AI chatbot on your television? Too bad—if you own an LG smart TV, you’re getting one. A recent software update reportedly installs Microsoft Copilot directly on LG TVs, and the app can’t be deleted. That’s what users started complaining about on social media, and the chatter grew quickly.
Tom’s Hardware reported that the update added a non-removable Copilot app to LG’s webOS platform, prompting many to voice frustration. The discussion kicked off on Reddit, where a post in the r/mildlyinfuriating community gathered thousands of upvotes and a flurry of comments about the change.
Engadget highlighted confirmation from LG TV owners that Copilot was installed and non-removable. The best you could do, at most, was hide the app from the home screen.
You might be wondering: why would a TV companion need an AI assistant? That’s a valid question. If you own an LG smart TV, it appears you’ve got it by default—whether you want it or not.
