Unlock Your Toyota with Samsung Wallet's Digital Key Feature! (2026)

In a groundbreaking development, Samsung Electronics has announced that starting January 2026, Samsung Wallet will feature Digital Key access for select Toyota vehicles. This innovative capability allows users of compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphones to effortlessly lock, unlock, and start their Toyota cars, enhancing convenience and security for drivers everywhere.

"Our goal with Samsung Wallet is to streamline everyday tasks by blending seamless convenience with top-notch security," stated Woncheol Chai, Executive Vice President and Head of the Digital Wallet Team within Samsung’s Mobile eXperience (MX) division. "By introducing Digital Key functionality for Toyota models, beginning with the 2026 Toyota RAV4, we are broadening accessibility so that Galaxy users can hit the road with greater ease and safety."

Samsung Wallet serves as a central hub for Samsung Galaxy users, providing a secure platform for vital items such as payment cards, identification, passes, and various digital keys. This integration into the expansive Samsung Galaxy ecosystem ensures smooth connectivity and enhances security, which is crucial for managing daily activities effectively.

Once a user links their compatible Toyota vehicle with Samsung Wallet, they can utilize their smartphone to interact with the car without the necessity of a physical key. This is made possible through the advanced Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology that facilitates hands-free entry, complemented by Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. UWB, a standardized communication protocol established by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC), not only enables convenient access but also significantly boosts security by minimizing the chances of unauthorized access through its precise and reliable functionality. Additionally, Galaxy users have the option to share their Digital Keys with trusted individuals via Samsung Wallet. This feature allows for easy management of access, whether for a household with multiple drivers or temporary arrangements.

As part of the secure framework offered by Samsung Wallet, Digital Keys are stored directly on the device and safeguarded by Samsung Knox, an industry-leading security solution. These Digital Keys meet strict EAL6+ certification standards, ensuring robust defenses against unauthorized access while keeping sensitive information secure within the device itself.

In the unfortunate event that a device containing a Digital Key is lost or stolen, users can quickly lock or erase the key remotely using the Samsung Find service. Samsung Wallet enhances security further with biometric or PIN authentication, establishing an additional layer of protection to ensure that all vehicle interactions remain safe and private.
